Rekindling Creativity
I attended the university of Delaware in my early 20s. Science always held my interest as a child, but upon completing high school I decided to major in art, my passion. It took some time to get there, but I finally completed my bachelor's degree in printmaking. My senior year culminated in my senior exhibition, the big gallery show. As I gazed upon my work i found myself surrounded by pathology, biology, tumors, cells, bones, bacteria, and anatomy. at that moment I decided to take the plunge and i blindly ventured back to school and into the sciences. I became immersed in my life, my studies, and my finally my new career. My creative arts fell to the wayside.
Since then, i felt that there was something missing in my life. There was always something crucial lacking, a void that couldn't be filled. I found my way back to the arts through ceramics. initially, i started making ceramics at a community studio to spend more time with my mother. She has been a ceramicist for over thirty years as well as my biggest inspiration. Little did I know, I would find a passion that I thought had atrophied and withered away.
Here I am, years later, I work full time in the sciences and at night ceramics consumes the majority of my free time. I've honestly never been happier.
