Spanish luna moth mug

Slipcast stoneware ceramic mug altered and adorned with a hand drawn emblem. Each emblem is drawn painstakingly by hand by me. The sketches are lightly drawn on clay, no transfers or tracing. Each drawing is unique and one of a kind. The little lines are then carved into the emblem and dusted away. The emblems are covered with oxide and then layer upon layer is meticulously wiped away, leaving the stark contrast of dark lines on white clay. Before each piece is glaze fired, shadows are painted in with a small brush. Each piece contains a sketch, a line drawing, a carving, and a small painting  as well as being a functional ceramic vessel. The pieces take time, I suppose that’s part of why it brings me joy and occasionally sorrow. They are meticulous, but it is so satisfying when they are done. I only hope that each piece brings as much pleasure and emotion to your daily routine as their creation does to mine.
 
Mugs are dishwasher and microwave safe. Handwashing is recommended to preserve their longevity. Holds approximately 8oz.
